SCROLL
HISTORY
It started on the 1st of March 2019, when a little girl gave her father a handmade card and wished him “Happy Hearts Day”. Deeming a lot of good energy from this random act of kindness, they thought it would be a good idea to encourage other people to connect and pass on the ripple effects of random acts of kindness.
So last year while the Corona restrictions were in place, they came up with the idea of sharing a virtual walk starting on the 1st of March in Frankfurt and ending on the 17th of March, St Patrick’s day in Dublin. Over 600 people joined in from 26 countries around the world. During the walk people were encouraged to share stories, images, music and acts of kindness.
PURPOSE
To bring good people together to do random acts of kindness,
while celebrating Ireland and it’s culture.
WHAT IS INVOLVED
-
We start the walk on Saturday the 6 th of March in Donegal. While walking we will celebrate Ireland and it’s culture by sharing music, stories, jokes, pictures and doing random acts of kindness.
-
11 days later we will arrive in Kinsale on the 16 th of March after walking 1,314,058 steps. Leaving us fighting fit and ready to enjoy St Patrick's day on 17th March.
-
It's not a race, however we do know from last year people are naturally competitive and some teams will compete against each other.
-
If it takes you and your team a little longer no stress. This is one of the most beautiful walks in Ireland and should be enjoyed.
WHAT PEOPLE SAID ABOUT LAST YEARS WALK:
-
It was a great excuse to reached out and connected with old friends from other countries.
-
It got them out of the house and could walk locally with friends and colleagues.
-
They had an excuse to exercise.
-
A great team building exercise for customers and work colleagues.
-
They were surprised what acts of kindness some people did and how they were encouraged to show kindness to others.
-
Most importantly they had serious Craic.
Mother Theresa summed it up when she said “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love”.
Join us on this journey to make the world a better place with the aspiration of doing a thousand random acts of kindness.
HOW IT WORKS
Nowadays most people keep track of how many steps they do, using such things as phones and smart watches.
On this walk all we are doing is transferring, or syncing those steps from the phone, or smartwatch to the "World walking" App. So that those steps locally can be added to the “Wild Atlantic Way Walk”.
